All Laconic jewellery is made with careful consideration. Every piece is designed and crafted by hand, using traditional methods and sustainable materials, ensuring this beautiful, ethical and eco-friendly jewellery has minimum impact on the earth.
Established with more purpose in mind, I embrace a slow-approach to making; keeping traditional craft skills alive and making sustainable living a joy everyday.
As an independent British jewellery designer, I feel that I have a small but important responsibility within the jewellery industry to champion better practises when it comes to sourcing materials and manufacturing. I aim to be transparent about the processes at Laconic so you have a clear understanding of how each piece is crafted with careful consideration and responsible practises.
In order to be as sustainable as possible, I work closely with suppliers in the UK to source materials right here, helping to reduce our carbon footprint. This also includes outsourcing production methods such as casting (this is the process where the molten metal is poured into moulds for the jewellery designs). All of the suppliers used have been researched and selected to work with based upon their best practises and shared values.
Each piece by Laconic is handcrafted using a variety of traditional Goldsmithing techniques, with an emphasis on lost wax casting, where each piece is carved in wax and cast in metal to be worked on further.
Every piece of Laconic’s eco-friendly jewellery is made in small batches to combat overproduction and reduce waste. I strive to make jewellery that’s versatile and well-crafted but never with a machine-made aesthetic; no two pieces are ever exactly the same due to their handcrafted nature. This bespoke, slow process allows for careful consideration for each piece. I can continue to research and learn about how to source the most sustainable materials and use the most efficient production methods possible. This also means that I can work closely with you to tailor and customise my designs to your specifications.
There’s a balance to be found when selecting materials. It’s important to use 100% recycled metals to limit the environmental impact of mining, and it’s also important to support the livelihoods of artisanal small-scale miners who rely on mining to make a living.
All Laconic jewellery is handcrafted here in the UK using responsibly-sourced materials. All cast elements are made using 100% recycled precious metals. At the moment, components such as chains, earring posts, clasps and fastenings are made using materials that have not been recycled as these are more elusive. This is something Laconic is working towards changing.

My ethics go beyond the materials for the eco-friendly jewellery I make. In the studio, I also do what I can to work in a way that’s aligned with my values. Power is supplied through an energy company that uses 100% green electricity. Most of the paperwork is now digital; using only sketchbooks for designing and post-its or diaries for planning purposes.
I’m also working towards using less harmful chemicals in the workshop (where I can) and ensuring that these are disposed of safely in a way that isn’t harmful to the environment.
There are always changes to be made and ways to become better. Laconic is continuously working towards making improvements, no matter how small they may seem.
